During a holiday in Australia we hoped to see Numbats (Myrmecobius fasciatus). According to local advice, we spent hours along a track looking for them unsuccessfully. At noon, while my brothers and I were not concentrating as hard as at the beginning of the morning, I found four Echidnas (Echidna hystrix) asleep along the track. We spent the whole afternoon with them, watching different behaviours.
