Minke Whale

PORTFOLIO PRIZE

I was guiding a group of sea-kayakers when an inquisitive Antarctic Minke Whale (Balaenoptera acutorostrata) showed up and began cruising back and forth between us. Trusting this beautiful, intelligent mammal to know exactly where the hull of my kayak was, I tried to concentrate on photographing our encounter.
