Crested Black Macaque portrait

I took this portrait of a critically endangered Sulawesi Crested Black Macaque (Macaca nigra) while hiking through the thick rainforest in North Sulawesi in Indonesia. It was fairly dark under the dense canopy overhead, but for a brief moment a chink of light illuminated the primate’s pensive, almost sombre countenance.
