Royal Penguins

A typical Macquarie Island day – cold, wet and windy. These inquisitive Royal Penguins (Eudyptes schlegeli) waddled over to investigate the strange creature lying prone on the pebbly beach. Royals grow to about 70 cm and were curious to see a creature closer to the ground than themselves.
