Treading carefully – Black Stilt

THREATENED SPECIES

I had heard that a Black Stilt (Himantopus novaezelandiae) had been spotted at Lake Tekapo. Being the most endangered wader on Earth, I kept my fingers crossed and headed over there as soon as possible. In the beautiful evening light I managed to capture an image of this critically endangered species.
