Southern Brown Bandicoot

It’s always amazing what you find in your own backyard if the time is taken to look; this female Southern Brown Bandicoot (Isoodon obesulus) was busily searching for food. After quietly watching her forage, I saw that she was actually carrying young in her backward-facing pouch. The offspring have since moved out of home.
