Hatching owlfly (Family:Ascalaphidae) Iarvae

PORTFOLIO PRIZE

While out photographing dragonflies, I noticed several batches of owlfly eggs encircling a number of grass stems. I tied a marker on the stems so I could easily find them again and checked each morning and afternoon for hatchings. I missed most hatchings except for this group, which had just started to hatch. The larvae are about 3mm in length.
