Waxlip Orchid

The exquisite beauty of small terrestrial orchids is often overlooked because of their diminutive size. This Waxlip Orchid (Glossodia major), measuring a mere 30 mm across, was photographed at the Rock Nature Reserve in spring 2010 after long-awaited droughtbreaking rains resulted in an abundance of wildflowers.
