Sorry – Lake Gordon, south-west Tasmania

OUR IMPACT

In the early 1970s the Hydro-Electric Commission constructed a dam on the Gordon River. It was the largest and most controversial hydroelectric power scheme in Tasmania, flooding more than 272 km2 of pristine forest including stands of Huon Pine up to 2000 years old.
