Sooty Oystercatchers mating

ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR

My target for the afternoon had been photographing Hooded Plovers. As the sun went down I left them alone and was about to leave, when I noticed this pair of Sooty Oystercatchers close by. I was amazed and thrilled to see and be able to capture this brief mating sequence while there was still enough light.
