Myrtle forest

Mist wafts through mountain rainforest at day’s end. This callidendrous or cathedral-like rainforest is dominated by myrtle, Tasmania’s main rainforest tree. Individual trees live for upwards of 500 years, and the forest as a whole may be thousands of years old.
