Stephen’s Banded Snake

Stephen’s Banded Snake is venomous, nocturnal and mostly arboreal, but will occasionally descend to the ground and may be seen crossing tracks at night, like this individual. They can be aggressive and will often exhibit a defensive posture and strike repeatedly with little provocation, but once the threat has passed will also readily move away. This species has a limited distribution in Queensland and is now generally restricted to intact rainforest and wet eucalypt forest.
