Blue-lined Octopus

UNDERWATER SUBJECT

This Blue-lined Octopus would not leave the piece of soft coral it was holding when I approached it. After taking a number of photographs I studied my subject more closely and realised that the soft coral was, in fact, a Decorator Crab that had attached coral branches to its shell. Unfortunately for the crab, the disguise did not work and it was now the octopus’s next meal.
