Owlet Nightjar

My father, Peter Slater, is a champion birdwatcher and nest finder. For the last 30 years he has pointed out beautiful subjects for my photos. He found this Owlet Nightjar sunning itself at the entrance to its nest, overhanging a track leading to the creek. The bird’s sun-worship made it an ideal subject – the warm light lifted it from the shaded wood of the hollow.
