Keelbacks’ revenge!

ANIMAL BEHAVIOUR

While on a trip to Cape York, I witnessed several of our freshwater Snakes or Keelbacks (Tropidonophis mairii) consuming the introduced pest Cane Toad (Bufo marinus). They didn’t seem to mind eating them head first or tail first, and it was exciting to see the Keelbacks’ revenge!
