Hawksbill Turtle foreplay


Hawksbill Turtles were mating in the shallows. The light was fading and I was shooting against the sun, handholding the camera as the wind blasted sand down the beach. Prior to mating, the Turtles would approach head to head – it was this quick embrace I was able to capture.

Status: The Hawksbill Turtle has a circumglobal distribution throughout tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific oceans. It is listed as Critically Endangered.
