Brown Noddy preening

This island is an amazing place around Christmas each year. Terns nest in great numbers – Crested and Bridled Terns, White-capped and Brown Noddies – making confiding and fascinating subjects. While preening, this Noddy twice attained this extreme position for only a moment. Having seen it the first time, the difficult part was pre-composing the shot so that the bird filled the frame on the second occasion.
